america's cup world series

Newport hosted the America's Cup World Series in summer of 2012. The in-port race was fantastic, with a spectator fleet of 1200 boats in Newport harbor, and racing at top speeds close to viewers on land, at Fort Adams and elsewhere.

 The World Series used AC45 catamarans, conceived as a smaller version of the larger AC72 class which was used for the 2013 America's Cup.
